European Constitutional Law
Course description:
The purpose of the course is to teach the student European Constitutional Law, Constitutional history and Founding Principles of European Union. Students will gain a fundamental knowledge on Governmental structure, Legislative powers, External powers, Executive powers, Judicial powers, European Federalism and Democracy, Union Citizenship and National Constitutional Law Relating to the European Union. The curriculum will provide students with knowledge of the key institutions of the European Union, of the EU’s constitutional values, of EU citizenship, of fundamental rights. The course will provide students with knowledge of the issues that are important for raising standards of democracy in Georgia, approximation to the European Union and European integration.
Protection of Human Rights in the European Union
Course description:
The purpose of the course is to teach the student basic human rights and freedoms, their legal nature and the constitutional basis of their limitation. The basic principles and standards of human rights in the European Union, the elements of the notion of fundamental rights, the principles of the fundamental rights grouping, human and citizen rights; Methods of determining the scope of rights; Students will also be taught basic human rights mechanisms at the level of the European Union and the Member States, the existing safeguards and the means of using them.
